A Fun, Rainy Day Barn Wedding

  • Sarah, who works in popular PR, and Matt, an Estate Agent celebrated their marriage on 29 March 2018 in the beautiful, Ongar. The couple first met at secondary school, and after ten years together, Matt proposed on the family ski vacation in Austria on Christmas Eve, no less!

"He arranged a horse and carriage ride with the town where we'd visited throughout our relationship. It was amazing having each of our families around us. We married the March after."

Sarah chose an exquisitely cut silk gown, having a deep v-neckline and back, along with a beautiful wide sash detail around the waist.

"I wanted my dress to become as simple yet classic as you possibly can. I didn't want any lace or embellishment. I loved the thought of a satin dress and knew it had been my dress before trying it on."

"After going to a few venues Blake Hall felt probably the most relaxed and we both felt comfortable there. The converted barns were an attractive setting…We wanted everything to become simple and clean-cut. White was the primary color throughout with hints of blush pink."

The bridesmaids wore probably the most amazing lavender bridesmaid dresses, bringing effortless glamour to the day.

They also wore shoe knot earrings – a thanks gift from Sarah, and fresh gypsophila within their hair. The sweet flower girls and page boys wore outfits. Here

Matt wore a classic black tie, and a wristwatch along with a pair of cufflinks gifted to him by Sarah for their big day.

"Matt also wore a bespoke lapel pin of the family tree that Matt's brother had made from his grandad's old jewelry. Matt, his dad, and Joe all wore the same."

In preserving this fresh simplicity, Essex-based florists created dreamy bouquets of pale pink roses with gypsophila and ivy, using the stems neatly covered with white ribbon.

The couple chose a photographer to capture their day.

"I had my heart set on Terri having seen her photos of the friend's wedding and she or he didn't disappoint. Terri made everyone feel at ease around the day and was able to capture everyone's emotions perfectly. We couldn't be happier with these pictures."

"Matt's mum made our cake. She did numerous courses to understand how to ice and decorate the wedding cake. She created sugar roses to complement my bouquet."

For Sarah and Matt, there wasn't a single favorite moment in the day, however, the best aspect on their behalf was being encompassed by everyone they loved and who was simply there on their behalf throughout their relationship.

Their first dance like a married couple ended up being to It's All About You by McFly – an enjoyable song with special meaning on their behalf. The band had everybody dancing into the night.
