An Italian-Inspired Winter Barn Wedding

  • Becky, an Accountant, and David, who's a Clinical Psychologist, celebrated their marriage on 17 November 2018, having a church ceremony, then a reception in the charming, rustic Kingston, Corfe Castle, Dorset.

Becky looked wonderful inside a beautifully fitted, long-sleeved lace dress, having a high neckline and low, v-back, which she chose in FeelTimes.

"I had a significant clear concept of what I wanted for my dress for that ceremony and meal. I knew I wanted a fitted shape with a lot of lace and long sleeves, therefore it was more an instance of looking for something specific to that style, instead of trying on many different dresses. Once I thought it was, I loved all of the lace and also the shape of the dress."

Becky's flower girls wore white lace flower girl dresses, which perfectly complemented her very own, along with cropped faux-fur jackets, white tights, sparkly shoes, and silk flower crowns within their hair.

David and the groomsmen wore deep blue three-piece suits, with David wearing a contrasting grey waistcoat having a navy blue tie and grey pocket square, and also the groomsmen wearing grey ties and pocket squares. David seemed to be gifted an engraved pocket watch to wear around the day.

The bridesmaids wore pale blue multi-way maxi bridesmaid dresses, that they wore using their shoes and bracelets.

"We met through work on a private clinic in 2013. I worked in accounts, and David was doing his training being an Assistant Psychologist to ensure that he might get onto the clinical doctorate. David surprised me by proposing on a romantic weekend in Cambridge in November 2017, along with a year a few days later we've got married!"

Maria and also the team worked magic within the lovely, historic stone barn at Kingston Country Courtyard, having a canopy of twinkling fairy lights above, and branches of trailing ivy on the walls and also over mirrors.

After their post-ceremony drinks, everyone sat right down to a wedding feast made by Bobbie and Tim at Kingston Country Courtyard. To start, there is wild mushroom tartlet having watercress and orange salad, then roast beef and Yorkshire puddings with horseradish and roast vegetables, or black-eyed bean cakes having a ginger and onion marmalade, and roast vegetables.

"These were good enough to please an army of Italian guests. Family and friends very kindly baked an enormous selection of cakes, desserts, and biscuits, too!"

The dessert course was Becky and David’s delicious wedding cake served with salted caramel sauce and Purbeck vanilla frozen treats.

"We had a lot of compliments on both the appearance and taste of our cake! It was produced by Nicki. We went having a semi-naked drip cake made from a toffee/caramel sponge, with vanilla buttercream icing and salted caramel sauce."

There would be a quick costume change for Becky, as she donned a white multi-way dress, which she discovered.

Beneath a canopy of sparkling lights, Becky and David enjoyed their first dance together like a married couple, to the song, It Must Be Love, by Madness, before fantastic live music from the band.

    Words of Wedded Wisdom

"It's natural to inquire about your friends and families' thoughts when creating decisions about your wedding – there are plenty of decisions to create, however, the advice I would give is always to not let yourself get caught up with making choices according to other peoples' opinions. Go with what you and your partner would like. Even if you’re choosing something unconventional, it's your day, and you ought to have it how you would like it."
